High Desert Pest Control

Scorpion Control

Scorpions are one of the toughest High Desert pests to control. They hide in block walls, under rocks and landscaping, and squeeze through gaps into the house. They're most active in the warm months and hunt at night.

Signs of a scorpion problem

  • Scorpions spotted indoors at night or in the garage
  • Activity around block walls, rock landscaping, and woodpiles
  • They glow under a UV/blacklight after dark

How we handle it

Scorpions need a layered approach: treat the harborage in walls and landscaping, knock down the insects they feed on, and seal the gaps where they slip inside. Consistent recurring service is what actually moves the needle on scorpions.

How scorpions get inside

  • Gaps under garage doors — scorpions can flatten to a credit-card thickness
  • Weep holes in block walls that lead directly into the home's interior wall
  • Plumbing penetrations under sinks and behind washing machines
  • Roof vents and chimney caps with damaged screens

When they're most active

Scorpions are most active from May through September and hunt at night. Summer monsoon storms drive them out of their burrows looking for higher, drier ground — which is often inside your home. A blacklight walk after dark is the fastest way to gauge how bad a yard's scorpion population is.
